Review: Maybelline Babylips in Pink Punch

Hello!

So I've been a bit AWOL recently due to epic work hours (I will use all the overtime I have if it kills me....which it might...) Last week I did 8 full days in a row for Mega Week and by day 8 I was like a zombie. Seriously just getting my arm up to hit the button on the lift (stairs were out after day 5) was as struggle!! However, I'm back to my sort of normal shifts before the Christmas rush and am determined to get back to blogging/doing YouTube videos!

Today I bring you a review on one of the most hyped about products of the year I think! I'm not going to lie, this was a total impulse purchase and I knew I wasn't going to like it before I even paid for it - what can I say, I live for the hype ;) My local Boots didn't have that much choice of colours and in hindsight i probably would have preferred the red toned one, but even so I still wouldn't have liked it because it's the formula that i don't like really. Anyway, on with the review...

Packaging - You can't expect too much for £2.99 so I'm happy with this. It's pretty funky and clearly aimed at a younger crowd. I think at 25 maybe I'm too old to be carrying around something that is clearly aimed at 13 year olds? (Love that they have to put a "For Adult Use Only" on there!)

So it's the usual packaging of most stick lipbalms, but slightly funkier (I can feel myself ageing every time I use that word...) I do like the pink and yellow together though...it gives it an edgy look (I'm now about 84 for using the word "edgy" there...)

As you can see it's a fairly bright pink colour and is rounded like most stick balms, which means that, with the tint, you run the risk of getting it all over the place if you whack it on when you're on the go. Anything with a tint should have a point so you can get into the cupid's bow properly in my opinion. My Lips aren't built for a rounded top and I'll get it everywhere. Ugh,

Bottom Swatch is one swipe and the top swatch is a few swipes.

You may notice there is no swatch on my lips....this is because I tried it at work, looked like I'd escaped a bad 80s music video and promptly gave it away. I really tired to like it, I did but I hated the formula too. I wore it all afternoon and felt like I had a layer of wax on my lips. It was all I could feel for the rest of the day. I didn't get their 8 hour moisture claim either and actually ended up with drier feeling lips at the end of the day. Now then, this may have just been me, but this review is based on my own experiences and I can tell you that I won't be interested in spending another £2.99 to see if I prefer the red one or not. The friend i gave it too really like it so maybe it's just me....

So that's my Babylips experience.....have you guys brought any Babylips at all? What do you think??? Am I the odd one out in all of this hype? Let me know in the comments as always!

Until next time,
xoxo

  1. I have the same one. I find it drying on my lips and the colour is far too pink for a tint!

    1. I'm glad it's not just me who had this issue! They really weren't worth the hype at all! xxx

  2. Such a shame you didn't like it! The ones we have in Australia are way different (and I really don't know why!) but they're a bit nicer!
